Speech Language Pathologist

 

A Specialist who evaluates and treats communication (voice and language) disorders, functional thinking skills and swallowing problems for people of all ages. A Speech Language Pathologist is sometimes called a speech therapist or speech pathologist. 

Speech pathologists have a Masters or Doctorate in their specialty. A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required to be nationally certified as well as state licensed and practice in a private clinic or medical setting. Additional, yearly, education is required for specialization in areas such as swallowing and special treatments.
